The official synopsis of Saw 7 has been revealed by Lionsgate:
Saw 7 Plot:
"his October, one of the biggest, most successful horror franchises in movie history arrives in theaters in vivid, chilling 3-D with the release of Lionsgate’s SAW VII 3-D.
As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror...
The first theatrical feature to be shot exclusively on the cutting-edge SI-3D digital camera system, SAW VII 3-D brings the horrifying games of Jigsaw to life like never before. The film stars Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell and Sean Patrick Flannery. SAW VII is directed by Kevin Greutert, produced by Oren Koules, Mark Burg and Gregg Hoffman. SAW VII 3D is a Lionsgate Release. Twisted Pictures Presents a Burg/Koules/Hoffman Production"
Did you see who's back in the cast: Cary Elwes!
Yep, you read that right, Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) will be back!
:)
The seventh opus of the Saw movie series will go 3D! Some may call 3D a gimmick, but I think Lionsgate does the right thing: it would be shameful not to use 3D by now!
Just imagine how Jigsaw & co.'s traps are going to be marvelously rendered in 3D!
The Saw 7 being in 3D may also explain why Kevin Greutert isn't helming the new film: 3D requires longer time to prepare, and he's still busy working on Saw 6. So Lionsgate called back David Hackl to direct Saw 7.
I'm confident that Scriptwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton will integrate 3D in the movie Saw VII with their usual genius spirit.
The traps in the movie Saw 7 are gonna reach a whole new twisted bloody level!

Update: David Hackl is no more in charge of Saw 7, Lionsgate forced Kevin Greutert to come back to helm the seventh installement of Saw...
Variety confirms that Saw 7 will be released in October 2010 and reports that the movie Saw VII will start production in January 2010. And in a surprising move, it is announced that David Hackl (who started off as a production designer for the second, third and fourth films before helming the fifth movie) is back to direct this new opus of the Saw movie series.
He was probably missing Jigsaw and his heritage. Or maybe it is just that Lionsgate does not want the Saw movie series to be hijacked by a particular director, and so prefers to hire a large pool of talents.
Anyway, you watched Saw 5, so any advice for Davi Hackl (did he miss something when directing Saw 5?) regarding the movie Saw 7?
:)

We knew already that there would be a Saw 7 movie, Actor Tobin Bell confirmed indeed that he'll be back at least till Saw 8.
Well it's good to be reassured even more and to know that Scriptwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton have signed on to pen the seventh installment in the Saw movie franchise.
Depending on the success of Saw VI, Editor-turned-Director Kevin Greutert is likely to direct Saw VII. But Scriptwriter Marcus Dunstan, who made his directorial debut this year with The Collector, could compete for the job. I suppose it's not so fartfetched either to imagine the two guys co-directing the upcoming Saw VII movie: because they're both expert for all things Saw, I think they could deliver the best Saw movie ever together.
Regarding the release date of Saw 7: nothing official yet, but we can fairly bet that Lionsgate will respect the tradition and will release Saw 7 in October 2010.
The Plot of Saw 7:
Well no real clue yet about the plot of Saw 7. But legends never really die, and Jigsaw's work won't be stopped. This new Saw sequel will for sure deliver as many tricky and twisted traps as the previous Saw movies did.
Any suggestion to Marcus Dunstan Patrick Melton for the movie Saw 7?
:)
